About St. Francis Jandiala Guru School


The Diocese of Jalandhar conducts a number of convent schools in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The Catholic Church, through these institutions, offers its contribution to our national effort in the dissemination of knowledge to our young minds. By maintaining academic, profession and moral excellence, these schools strive for the total formation of the human person as much for their own personal enrichment as for the services of the nation.

St. Francis Convent School, Jandiala Guru, Dist.  Amritsar is a Catholic school, owned, established and administered by the “Diocese of Jalandhar, Registered Religious and Charitable Society”, a Christian minority undertaking. This school is primarily established for the Christian minority children; however other children are admitted as per the availability of seats or on merit. This is an English medium School under the ICSE syllabus, New Delhi and was established in 1987 by the Diocese of Jalandhar and under the patronage of Late Rt. Rev. Dr. Symphorian Keeprath, the then Bishop of Jalandhar and through the sustained effort and hard work of Directors and Principals of this school. Rt. Rev. Dr. Franco Mulakkal, the present Bishop and the President of the Diocese of Jalandhar, Registered Charitable society is the Patron of this School. The Diocese of Jalandhar is a Catholic Christian Minority Religious and Charitable society registered under the Society Registration Act. XXI of 1860 vide No. 134 of 1957-1958, enjoying all the rights and privileges granted to the minorities enshrined in Article 29 and 30 of the Indian Constitution. Although it is owned and managed by a Religious minority community with the primary objective of serving its own minority Christian community, admission to this school is opened to the boys and girls of all the communities who wish to get ICSE education without any prejudices. Every student who gets admitted in this school is encouraged to admire, foster and practice equality and family spirit as the children of one God. Every child in this institution is encouraged to follow their own religion with an emphasis on Love for all Humanity.

Keeping in view of the upliftment of the Catholic Christian Minority Community the Diocese of Jalandhar it owns and administers a number of Kindergartens, primary schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools- both in English and in local vernaculars, in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Besides giving educational services Diocese of Jalandhar renders other humanitarian services like running of hospitals, dispensaries, orphanages, special schools for the differently able children, old ages homes, home for the mentally challenged brethren in the society. Diocese of Jalandhar under the guardians of its religious head “the Bishop extents its services to every needy person both in cities and in remote villages of Punjab and in Himachal Pradesh. St. Francis Convent School, Jandiala Guru, Dist. Amritsar is the result of such a humble attempt by the Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar in providing with quality education to dispel the darkness of ignorance from the life of the new generation and to prepare them for a better value based glorious future.

                For the general administration of the educational institutions of the Diocese of Jalandhar, a “ Diocesan Board of Education” has been constituted. All the educational, managerial and administrative polices are made by this Board in consultation with the Directors and Principals (who are the overall in-charges of the educational institutions in a particular place) of its various member institutions.
